Where it started

25 million views,
none of it behind a paywall.

Before there was an academy there was a YouTube channel. More than a thousand videos on driving technique — braking, rotation, racecraft, the things nobody explains properly — published free and still free today. It is how most of our members found us, and it is still the honest preview of how we coach.

The track record

Five years of coaching,
written down as a method.

Between us the coaching team has spent more than 2,000 hours one-to-one with drivers — real-life racing drivers preparing for a season, and thousands of sim racers who simply wanted to stop guessing. The academy is that experience, turned into something you can follow — and what drivers say about it is in their own words.

  • 2,000+ Hours of one-to-one coaching across the team.
  • Pro and amateur From professional racing drivers to first-season sim racers.
  • ~1 second What drivers typically find in their first month — our estimate from five years of coaching, not a tracked statistic.

The one-second figure is our estimate from five years of coaching, not a tracked statistic. The week-by-week shape is illustrative — everyone’s curve looks a little different.

Getting faster is the easy part.

Anyone can be handed a setup and a braking marker and go a bit quicker for a week. What our drivers leave with is the ability to look at their own lap and know what to work on next.

That is the difference between being coached and being taught. It is also why progress carries on long after a session ends.

FOUNDER

About the founder

Meet Marian Barbieru.

I started GitGud Racing because I became obsessed with understanding why one driver is faster than another — not just copying braking points or setups, but understanding the technique behind the lap time.

That eventually grew into coaching drivers, building structured courses and working with other high-level racers to create a complete training system.

Today, the goal of the Academy is the same: give every driver a clear answer to “What should I work on next?”

Why we built the academy

More practice doesn’t
always mean more improvement.

Sim racers can spend hundreds of hours driving without knowing whether they’re practicing the right things. We built GitGud Academy to remove the guesswork.

  1. Diagnose

Find what’s actually costing you time.

  2. Train

Use focused drills, courses and coaching to fix it.

  3. Review

Get feedback from experienced drivers and coaches.

  4. Repeat

Track your progress and move on to the next weakness.
